The 2006 growing season has come to a close, and we could not be happier. Mother Nature has smiled upon Hawks View and Muirfield this year, providing us with a bountiful harvest of 104.65 tons of fruit. Our intial set ranged from three to six tons per acre, and after diligent thinning, we dialed in the individual blocks to each winemakers specifications. With plenty of heat units and a vigorous canopy, getting the fruit ripe was not an issue, and harvest began on September 26th, ending 4th of October. Instead of battling the normal issues such as rain and disease pressure, 2006's main problem was dehydration. The crush pad comments from each winemaker were quite positive and it looks like 2006 Hawks View and Muirfield Pinots will be expectional.
